Most people are drawn to the long beaches by the sea in summer. Sandy in the north, rocky in the south of Albania. In August it gets sometimes uncomfortably crowded, morning and evening traffic to the most popular places. There are still quieter spots on the coast and especially the inland offers many wonderful places where you can swim or at least splash around in the water without being in the hustle and bustle (although there are exceptions that you saw in spite of all the crowds must have).
